A different kind of support

See the whole picture. Shape your next step.

Difficult experiences rarely affect just one part of life. Stress, conflict and uncertainty can influence how you think, feel, communicate, parent and respond to pressure.

My approach brings together practical strategy, trauma-informed understanding and nervous-system regulation. We explore what is happening, how it is affecting you and what will help you take your next steps. This may include strengthening boundaries, understanding the impact on children, or preparing to communicate and advocate for yourself with professionals.

Every person’s circumstances, challenges and priorities are different. That’s why my approach is bespoke — thoughtfully tailored to your individual needs, with support that adapts as your circumstances evolve.

How I can help

Practical support, with the person in mind.

You might need space to understand your experiences, tools for everyday challenges or practical support through family court. We begin with what matters to you.

01 / COACHING & REGULATION

Trauma-informed coaching

Bespoke coaching drawing on trauma-informed approaches, nervous-system awareness, positive psychology and practical strategies to support self-understanding, confidence and meaningful change.

Explore how stress, difficult experiences and relationship dynamics can affect your thoughts, emotions, behaviour and responses. Develop skills in emotional regulation, boundaries, communication, decision-making and rebuilding self-trust.

Prolonged stress can affect concentration, memory, communication and your ability to respond under pressure. Understanding your nervous system and developing regulation strategies can help you respond more intentionally, make considered decisions and advocate more effectively for yourself and others.

The aim is not simply to feel calmer, but to build understanding, confidence and capabilities that support you in everyday life.

02 / FAMILY COURT & STRATEGY

Family court & McKenzie Friend support

Bespoke practical and strategic support when considering or navigating separation, divorce, financial matters, child arrangements, child maintenance and family court proceedings.

I can help you understand processes, organise information, identify priorities, prepare documents and navigate interactions with legal and other professionals.

How I can help you prepare
  • Review documents you have prepared, improving clarity, structure and focus.
  • Organise evidence, chronologies, case papers and court bundles in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies and matters that may need clarification.
  • Prepare for hearings, giving evidence and understanding questioning or cross-examination, without conducting questioning on your behalf.
  • Prepare for meetings with solicitors, barristers, Cafcass, social care, schools, healthcare professionals and other organisations.
  • Communicate and engage with professionals, anticipate difficulties, consider scenarios, prioritise actions and maintain useful records.

We consider how to use your time, energy and resources, reduce avoidable risks and work towards safer, more sustainable outcomes. No particular court result can be promised.

03 / PARENTING & ADVOCACY

Parenting, communication & advocacy

Understand how stress, family dynamics and challenging experiences can affect you and your children.

Drawing on positive parenting principles and trauma-informed approaches, develop greater understanding of children’s emotional and developmental needs, strengthen connection and communication, and establish supportive boundaries.

Build the knowledge and confidence to advocate for yourself and your children, including communicating with schools, healthcare, social care, Cafcass and other professionals. This support is not limited to people going through family court.

04 / WORKING TOGETHER

Professional education & collaboration

Education, masterclasses and collaboration for organisations and professionals seeking a more informed, practical and trauma-aware approach to the people they support.

The way forward

Thoughtful support for a situation that keeps changing.

01

Understand

We start by listening to your experience and understanding what matters to you, where you are now and what feels most pressing.

02

Connect & prepare

We make sense of the wider picture, identify priorities, anticipate potential challenges and consider how best to use your time, energy and resources. Together, we prepare for important decisions and conversations, aiming to reduce avoidable risks and support more informed, considered outcomes.

03

Move forward

We adapt as things change, building your knowledge, confidence and ability to navigate the next stage in your own way.

Meet Mandeep

Analytical thinking. Human understanding.

“Behind every document and decision is a person trying to navigate a difficult time.”

I’m Dr Mandeep Kaur Khela. I’m naturally curious, analytical and forward-thinking, with a genuine interest in understanding people, their experiences and the circumstances shaping their lives. I look beyond the immediate problem, recognising patterns and connections and considering what may be needed further down the line.

My approach is warm, thoughtful and practical. I want you to feel comfortable being yourself, without fear of judgement or pressure to explain everything perfectly. I’ll take time to listen and understand, ask questions and explore perspectives with you.

Before moving into this work, I spent more than 16 years across the NHS, academia and international healthcare, including Queen Mary University of London, GE Healthcare and Eli Lilly. I’m a Chartered Physicist with a PhD in Nuclear Medicine applied to Neurogastroenterology. My scientific career included clinical research, co-authoring peer-reviewed publications, presenting internationally, leadership and training healthcare professionals.

I also bring lived experience of separation, coercive control and family court, and an understanding of how these experiences can affect confidence, wellbeing, parenting, relationships and everyday life. I’m an Amazon No. 1 bestselling co-author of Courageous Action, contributing the chapter Life Reimagined.

My support is bespoke and collaborative, bringing together analytical thinking, practical strategy and trauma-informed understanding, so you feel better equipped for what comes next.

Common questions

Do I need to be in family court?

No. Coaching and practical support are available for a wider range of difficult experiences and life changes.

What does a McKenzie Friend do?

A McKenzie Friend can provide practical assistance to someone representing themselves in court, including helping organise case papers, taking notes, offering moral support and providing quiet assistance during hearings. I can accompany you in court, subject to the court’s discretion and applicable rules.

Where you have a solicitor or barrister representing you, I can provide complementary preparation, organisation and communication support; involvement in proceedings depends on the circumstances and court directions. A McKenzie Friend does not ordinarily address the court, question witnesses or conduct litigation on your behalf. I do not act as a solicitor or barrister or provide regulated legal representation.

Can you work alongside my solicitor or barrister?

Yes. Where you’re receiving legal advice or representation, I can provide complementary practical and trauma-informed support, helping you organise information, identify priorities, prepare questions and make effective use of professional appointments. I can also provide continuity between appointments, helping you remain informed, organised and prepared. Legal advice and representation remain the responsibility of your legal professionals.

Is support online?

Support is available online across the UK. We can discuss what is appropriate for your situation when you enquire.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Coaching offers practical support for understanding your circumstances, developing skills and moving forward. It is not psychotherapy or clinical treatment.
